Atlanta United have today confirmed the signing of Senegalese striker Jamal Thiare, with the forward joining on a free transfer.
The Five Stripes confirmed on their official website that the 30-year-old has signed an 18-month contract with Atlanta, with Thiare last playing for French side Le Havre.
Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said about the transfer: “Jamal’s profile is one that translates well to this league and will complement the group of players that we’ll have for the final stretch of the season.

“He’s a veteran striker who has been a proven goal scorer throughout his career and we’re looking forward to having him bolster our attack.”
With the MLS window due to close later tonight, Thiare could be one of many late signings made by Atlanta in the course of the next few hours.
And Thiare’s arrival comes at a good time for Atlanta, with the Five Stripes in need of attacking depth having struggled with options beyond the starting XI in the striker position.
Jamal Thiare is a welcome addition to the Atlanta family

An experienced striker playing at the highest level in France, Thiare is the second player from the country to join Atlanta this summer. And the forward is a welcome addition.
Whilst Thiare is far from the youngest option in Atlanta’s squad, the Senegalese forward offers a reliable source of goals for a Five Stripes side that have lacked such a force off the bench this season.
