Giorgos Giakoumakis has slammed MLS officials after Atlanta United’s 2-2 draw against FC Cincinnati in their MLS regular season closer.
Speaking to the press via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Greek international was critical of the referees after Thiago Almada was sent off for two soft yellow cards with Cincinnati also escaping a red.
Giakoumakis was on the receiving end of a nasty tackle, and the former Celtic star was not pleased with how officials handled the match on MLS Decision Day.

With Almada now out for Atlanta’s playoff opener against the Columbus Crew, a lot of problems could have been avoided had the referees done their job correctly on the night.
And Giakoumakis has now taken aim at the officials, with the Greek superstar far from pleased with what he saw on the night.
Giakoumakis said: “I don’t know what is a red card in this league. Probably, if you break your ankle, then it’s going to count.”
Giakoumakis has every right to think Atlanta were robbed

Giakoumakis is well within his right to be left mad after what happened last night, with Atlanta losing a key footing in their bid to win MLS Cup.
Almada’s suspension is a major blow for the Five Stripes, and there’s now every chance that the Georgia franchise will miss out on silverware this year.
Indeed, Giakoumakis’ comments could lead to further punishment, yet the Greek international could hardly be blamed for what transpired last night in Ohio.
