Xande Silva has detailed how easy a decision it was to join Atlanta United this summer, with the winger signing for the Five Stripes on MLS deadline day on loan.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Portuguese playmaker revealed that making the move to MLS was an easy one to make given how big Atlanta’s reputation is in Europe.

The Georgia franchise are regarded as one of the best-supported MLS sides outside of the USA, with Atlanta United supporters clubs located across the entire world, something that Silva was seemingly aware of.

The former West Ham player joined Atlanta last week as a last-minute signing for Gonzalo Pineda’s side, and Silva seems excited to get started with his new club heading into the second half of the season.

Silva said on why he joined Atlanta and his ambitions with the club this year: “Everyone knows Atlanta United in Europe. For us, it’s a big team, and I know in America, it’s a big team, as well. So, it was an easy choice.

“With the team, I want to achieve our goals. Individually, I’ll have to think about that. It’s too early. Give me a few weeks. But I think the most important thing is to be happy. I think when you’re happy, you can achieve anything you want.”

Silva has had quite an interesting career, yet with Atlanta, the on-loan attacker can make a big name for himself, big enough that the Portuguese talent could be signed on a permanent deal.

The Dijon-owned star has had flashes of brilliance during his senior career in Europe, and in a league like MLS and for a club like Atlanta, Silva could be ready to show his true qualities on a big soccer stage.

Moreover, with the winger excited to get started with the Five Stripes, Silva could hit the ground running with Atlanta, with the 26-year-old having more than enough time to get ready for the return of MLS action.
