Ajax are reportedly no longer considering Thiago Almada as a replacement for Mohammed Kudus, with the Atlanta United star deemed too expensive.
According to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, the Eredivisie giants have thrown away any plans of moving for Almada this week, with Ajax now moving on to other targets.
As per the report, the Argentine international, whilst rated by officials at Ajax, would be too expensive a signing, with Atlanta also reluctant to sell their star player without a replacement in mind.

With the MLS summer window closed, the general view from experts and fans has been that Atlanta will sell Almada in January, where the playmaker’s value will no doubt be at an all-time high.
As a result, Ajax could decide to launch a move for Almada in 2024, where the Dutch giants could have more finances in the bank depending on how they do in Europe this season.
Indeed, Almada himself also seems keen to remain with Atlanta until the end of the year, where a move to Europe would then make the most sense for all parties involved.
Ajax should reconsider Almada in January

There’s no question that Almada is ready for a move to Europe already, with the 22-year-old superstar showcasing enough in MLS that a big transfer should be on the cards.
And for Ajax, returning for the playmaker in the January window could be a real option for the European giants, who might still need a playmaker in 2024.
With Almada itching to make the move to Europe, Ajax can make the Atlanta star’s dream a reality in the coming months, where the Five Stripes might also soften their stance on selling the Argentine.
