Ajax will reportedly retain their interest in Thiago Almada despite the Dutch side this week signing an alternative player to the Atlanta United star.

According to Netherlands-based publication Voetbal International, the European giants are still keeping an eye on the Argentine international despite this week signing Georges Mikautadze.

The Georgian international was brought in as an alternative to Almada, with Atlanta’s demands simply too much for Ajax to meet this window.

However, the Eredivisie side remain interested in Almada, with the expectation in Holland now being that Ajax could make a new attempt to sign the playmaker in January.

Atlanta have made it very clear this summer that they will not be selling Almada despite strong interest from European clubs, such as Ajax.

However, this new update seems to hint that the Dutch giants will be back soon for Almada, with Ajax a club that could greatly appeal to the Atlanta superstar.

Almada heading to Europe seems almost certain next January, and a move to Amsterdam could be a realistic option for the 23-year-old superstar.

Ajax have one of the best reputations in soccer for signing and developing promising talents, with South American prospects thriving in the Dutch capital in recent years.

And Almada could be next for Ajax, with the Atlanta star primed to succeed one day in Europe at the right club, which the Dutch side could just be.
