European clubs are reportedly interested in signing Giorgos Giakoumakis, who only joined Atlanta United five months ago in March.
According to the Athletic, the Five Stripes striker is on the radar for some clubs in Europe after an impressive start to life in MLS, with Giakoumakis already bagging 10 goals in the division for Atlanta.
The Greek international joined Atlanta from Celtic earlier this year, and it hasn’t taken long for Giakoumakis to already attract interest from Europe.

Despite the surprising update, Giakoumakis is unlikely to leave Atlanta anytime soon, with the forward enjoying his time in Georgia and is now settled in MLS with the Five Stripes.
However, whilst Giakoumakis might not leave this summer, the January transfer window could be a different issue entirely, especially if Gonzalo Pineda’s side end the season empty-handed.
Indeed, Giakoumakis could be tempted by a return to Europe depending on which clubs end up making offers for the 28-year-old, with Atlanta now in a difficult position.
Atlanta can’t allow Giakoumakis to leave in 2024

Giakoumakis has been quite the revelation for the Five Stripes since arriving this year, and the MLS giants can’t allow the striker to leave in 2024 despite European interest.
The Greek star has been the dream long-term replacement for Josef Martinez this season, and Giakoumakis can offer a lot to Atlanta if he chooses to stay beyond this year.
Although a return to Europe could be tempting, Giakoumakis might soon realise that staying in MLS would be best for his career, with the attacker in the form of his life.
